AN ACADEMIC AND SOCIAL INITIATIVE

Since 2015, Critical Concrete researches on urban, sustainable architectural and design strategies and refurbishes socially relevant places through its theoretical and practical educational programmes.

The educational programs suit anyone interested in the theory of sustainable architecture, getting physically involved in construction work and having a tangible social impact. Architects, architecture & design students, makers, engineers. Our flagship postgraduate course, Sustainable-Sustainable Architecture combines practical construction experience with taught content in a range of social and sustainable topics.

In 2021 we launched criti.co, an online learning platform focused on sustainable education. On this emerging platform, we are gathering individuals and small organizations working in the field of sustainability to create online-courses to share their specific expertise. These courses combine theoretical input, interactive communication tools and – where applicable – hands-on assignments. Check out our first courses here!

We operate a production centre in the neighborhood of Ramalde with the vision combining co-working and co-building facilities. Ideas and techniques of sustainable and repairable construction processes are being developed in the centre. Social events such as workshops, team-buildings, movie sessions with vegan dinners, yoga classes are organised on a regular basis. We have unfortunately paused these activities due to the Covid-19 pandemic but hope to restart in the near future.
